Empowering Southern Dallas youth for almost a decade

Project Still I Rise is a community-based 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2002 to provide high quality, high impact programming to youth of Southern Dallas attending public schools.

About Us

Project Still I Rise is a community based nonprofit agency founded in 2002. The mission of the agency is empowering today’s youth for tomorrow’s opportunities through academic, mentoring, and leadership development programming. The agency headquarters office is located in Dallas, Texas.

Project Still I Rise embraces the core values of collaboration, compassion, servant leadership and stewardship.

  • Collaboration - we will work together with the community at large forming partnerships that support our mission.
  • Compassion - we will provide service in a spirit of empathy, love and concern.
  • Servant Leadership - we will create a service led environment.
  • Stewardship - we will manage resources effectively and responsibly.

The agency business model emphasizes collaboration with others, leveraging existing resources, building for the future through capacity development, innovation-driven solutions, cost-effective programming, and a strong emphasis on quality programs and services.

Project Still I Rise programs and services are based on the family systems and human ecology theoretical frameworks. Family systems theory assumes that emotional and behavioral problems of individuals are maintained through patterns of interaction within the family. The goal of intervention is to evaluate and change these patterns of behavior and to help the family interact in more effective ways. The Human ecology theory emphasizes that the behavior of individuals and families is a function of their adaptation to the demands of the broader environment. This approach to intervention involves strengthening the interactions between the family and other systems in the community that are an integral part of the intervention process.

Project Still I Rise offers the following science-based, curriculum-driven, and outcome-oriented programs: parent education and support, youth empowerment/development, school dropout prevention, comprehensive school-family-community partnerships, in-school and out-of-school youth education and employment, and cultural awareness/sensitivity. The agency also offers training and technical assistance on a variety of topics, program design and development, curriculum development, and professional consultation.

In addition to the general population, Project Still I Rise serves the following special service populations: youth who are incarcerated, on parole, or on probation, families and youth involved with substance abuse, and youth who have dropped out of school and for whom return to school is not possible.
